LOWCULTURE TELEVISION REVIEW OF THE YEAR
Well this year was, erm, fun? Television wise anyway. We started of with Professor Magwitch doing a turn as an annoying woman banging on about her lost child after billions of people died in Survivors. The show also starred him out of Hotel Babylon, Martha Jones and her who was [...]

Tonight is the most exciting telly night in weeks (and I’m going to be out, so none of you better text me with spoilers) as we reach the end of two of our favourite series, Torchwood: Children of Earth and Celebrity Masterchef. We’ve written much about the Torchwood this week already, so let’s focus [...]

Amazing. Brilliant. Terrifying. Heart-breaking. Fabulous. Devastating. All words that could describe episode four of Torchwood: Children of Earth.
I wasn’t planning on writing anything for this, but after watching it, how could I not? It’s the best piece of television drama that the BBC, and indeed any network, has ever aired.

So, two episodes in, how is Torchwood: Children of Earth faring? I’ll put everything under a spoiler cut, so if you haven’t seen either of the first two episodes yet, don’t click on the link. If you want to know whether it’s worth your time watching them, then the short answer is yes…

After what feels like a very long break from the ‘Whoniverse’, Captain Jack, Gwen, Ianto, the Obviousmobile, the Hub and Beautiful Cardiff are back. More importantly, so are Rhys and PC Andy.
Torchwood: Children of Earth is part of a week where TV finally gets better after being in the doldrums for a bit. [...]

Today marks one of the most signigficant scientific experiments of our lifetimes, when a bunch of scientists in Switzerland attempt to recreate the Big Bang in a miniature form. That’s all well and good, but if it goes to plan, won’t that create a whole new universe, or destroy the one we’ve got? [...]

FINALE! Doctor Who, BBC One, 6.40pm
I surely can’t be the only one who is shaking with excitement about tonight, can I? Journey’s End, the final episode in series four of Doctor Who is surely the most anticipated TV thing of 2008 so far. And those of you who saw the amazing first [...]

Toshiko Sato. Born: 1975. Died: April 2008.
Toshiko Sato will be fondly remembered by all lowculture viewers for her tireless heroics in the thankless task of working for Torchwood. A computer genius and technical wizz, Toshiko was recruited to Torchwood Three, Cardiff, in 2003, to avoid being detained any longer in prison. She went on [...]

DANGER! Torchwood, BBC Two, 9.00pm
We are sad to see that this is the last episode in what has largely been a rip-roaring, emotional, tense, funny, Cardiff-centric series of Torchwood (although we couldn’t be happier with the timing that means this ends and Doctor Who begins). As much as anything, this series has been a lot [...]
