The seventh, and final (as far as we know) series of Celebrity Big Brother has been one of the best and has caused several people to question whether axing the celebrity version of the show was the right move. When this year’s crop of housemates entered, some of them were seen as a bit of a coup (Vinnie, Stephanie, Heidi), others as a bit of a failure (Alex, Katia, Nicola) but Katia aside, the mix has been one of the most successful in a while.
The blend of personalities has really worked – especially the Ivana/Stephanie double act, and all but Vinne ‘man of the people with my £4000 cleaning bill and my place on MULLHOLLAND. GET THAT, MULLHOLLAND’ Jones have emerged as much more likeable than we ever expected, so it can’t have done their PR any harm unlike some previous years’ contestants.
The tasks have been fun, the house has been really interesting to look at, and the donations going to Comic Relief has brought it back full circle to its origins which pleases the long-term fangirl in me. The whole thing was rounded off perfectly by last night’s episode and the sinister shenanigans where the housemates all turned on Davina. With Vinnie’s popularity dwindling at long last, the winning of this show is no longer a foregone conclusion, but fairly wide open. My vote is for Stephanie though (09011 323 009 if you feel the same).
