By the rivers of Babylon

446babylon_genericSo yesterday I was supposed to write a review of May Contain Nuts, only within five minutes of it starting I was asleep. Which doesn’t bode well really. So ITV must try harder to keep my attention. I’m sure it was wonderful, what with everyone spending the first episode trying to work out where they’ve seen the new mother before. It was three hours later and a google that I realised that she was Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films. And now the ITV Player isn’t working so they’re not getting a review and I’m not getting closure on whether Moaning Myrtle succeeds in getting her daughter into the Chelsea College for Girls. Oh well, it’ll be hard, but I’ll find the strength to go on.

So anyway, onto tonight! Hotel Babylon returns in what is possibly the worst prime time slot in the history of broadcasting. It’s almost as if the BBC want to kill it. And I don’t think I could cope with that. Especially with the one year anniversary of Bonekickers approaching.

Mr Sharon Watts himself, Nigel Harman is joining the cast as millionaire Sam Franklin, but frankly I’m more thrilled that Emma Pierson is back as the ferocious -and now pregnant- Anna. Even if (and this is a spoiler so look away now) she will be leaving this series. Her departure promises to be a tear jerker and so I will probably be crying, even more so at who her replacement is. And later in the series Abi Titmus plays a nun, so that will be nothing if not unwittingly hilarious.

Abi was tonight! Hotel Babylon continues to be about 90% accurate in its portrayal of hotel life though, so hurray!

I know! I was very surprised. Now if I can just convince the BBC et al to send me advanced copies I might be factually correct in future.
