My third favourite (after Sue Perkins and Sandi Toksvig) celebrity lesbian, retailing superstar Mary Portas returns to our screens tonight in the first of a new three part series, Mary Queen of Charity Shops. The series is essentially the same as the last series, only she’s now gone all credit crunch and instead of turning around the fortunes of another pretentious boutique with a stupidly named owner, Mary will be dealing with the little grey haired old ladies who volunteer in charity shops.
If you find yourself missing the stupidly named owners, then fear not, apparently the most ridiculously named woman in fashion is there to donate a few old clothes, yes Brix Smith-Start leaves Gok’s Fashion Fix behind and comes up with a hot pink Marc Jacobs mini dress. Which I’m sure will now be adorning the body of a Sophia Petrillo look-a-like somewhere in Orpington. But I’m not even sure where that is so for all I know it’s made up. And the last time I checked Save The Children wasn’t the best place for designer clobber, but there you go. Whatever the case, I’m sure that Mary will have her hands full with revolting pensioners and a dodgy shop and that will make fabulous viewing.

When you say “revolting pensioners” do you mean disgusting old people or argumentative ones? x
