RUSSELL TOVEY’S ARSE! Being Human, 9.00pm, BBC Three
Last year, BBC Three piloted a whole bunch of shows, and the best of those, Being Human now turns up for a series proper. This show, about a ghost, vampire and werewolf sharing a flat, was one of the channel’s more original ideas, so we’re glad to see it back. Plus it featured a lot of Russell Tovey’s arse, which is something many people round these parts are always glad to see.
There has been a major reboot since last time, with Andrea Riseborough being replaced by Leonora Critchlow and Aidan Turner taking over from Guy Flanagan. When it was announced that Riseborough and Flanagan would not be on board for the series proper, we all went a bit apoplectic. Fresh from the news of them cancelling Pulling because of ageism, we fully expected them to do a Skins and cast children in the roles. Fortunately, the casting of Critchlow and Turner suggests it was merely because the original actors were too busy to return to the show (Andrea Riseborough in particular has barely left our screens in the past few months).
The most important thing, though is that Russell Tovey and his arse are still with us. Forum user nixxon has seen previews and assures fans of Tovey’s arse that it is featured heavily throughout. See, I told you telly was all give, give, give this month.
