The Jungle Brooke

SHOES! Lipstick Jungle, Living, 10pm

Oh, hello. I’m dreamy Andrew McCarthy from the 1980s. Before you start to have an existential freak-out on account of the fact that I’m quite old these days, allow me to hold you in my superintense steely blue stare while I tell you about my quite good new show. Well, it’s not that new, it started a few weeks ago on Living, but seriously, it’s really easy to catch up with.

It’s also not specifically ‘my’ show. It actually stars some other people from various significant moments in film and televisual history, mainly Brooke Shields who is famous for being 7 feet tall, having huge eyebrows and engaging in inappropriate underwater activities. Brooke is joined by the lady who was Audrey Raines in 24 (thankfully looking less harassed and sweaty) and by Lindsay Price whom I’m told was in Beverly Hills 90210.

Anyway, you just really need to know that Lipstick Jungle is adapted from a book by Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell, so expect fabulous fashions and shirtless gentlemen a-plenty. It’s a little more gritty and serious than SATC, for example, the leading ladies all have jobs, just like normal people! It’s wonderful to finally see a glamorous show where ordinary folks can truly identify with the central characters who go about their normal jobs as film studio execs, style magazine editors-in-chief, and fashion designers. Careers they must juggle with all kinds of relationship nonsense while looking fantastic. They’re such modern complex women, you see.

I play the slightly quirky, obscenely rich boyfriend of annoyingly judgemental fashion designer, Victory Ford. I do nice things like turn up with Champagne and act all quirky and billionaire-ish to distract her from the fact that her clothes are actually quite rubbish. It’s not a comedy and there’s only occasional perviness, but who cares when it’s so fantastic to look at? Hurray!
